It would be wonderful if a Thatcher-calibre politician could win power in Scotland. There is so much clearing out of the stables still to be done (the Edinburgh parliament has helped hugely with this by exposing especially the benighted Labour Party to more sunshine), but perhaps the day is not far off when someone with some sensible vision could be First Minister. Perhaps as we suffer in renewables-driven powercuts and from inflated electricity bills while the rest of the world thrives on cheap shale gas?
