I have been away on holiday, hence the blog going quiet. I went to Islay and Jura, not far from Edinburgh as the crow flies but as the cyclist goes, it was a long and complex journey.
Cycle to Waverley Station, train to Glasgow Central
Cycle to Glasgow Queen Street, train to Ardrossan
Ferry from Ardrossan to Brodick on the Isle of Arran
Fourteen mile cycle to Lochranza, ferry back to the mainland
Five mile cycle to Kennacraig
Ferry to Port Ellen in Islay. Cycle to campsite. That was the first day.
The second day fourteen mile cycle to Port Askaig.
Short ferry to Jura then eight mile cycle to the village of Craighouse.
That was the second day. The third was a day cycle, round trip of about 50 difficult miles to Orwell's house at Barnhill, at the north of Jura.
